這裡有無定冠詞, 意思有很大區別。
in case of 用法:
A. 表條件(如果, 萬一)
- In case of fire, ring the alarm bell. 如有火災, 請按警鈴。
- In case of failure, their position would be perilous in the extreme. 萬一失敗, 他們的處境將是很危險的。
B. 表原因或否定的目的(因為可能、以防、以備)
- The wall was built along the river in case of floods. 沿河築了堤, 以防洪水。
- Keep an umbrella in case of rain. 帶把雨傘, 以防下雨。
in the case of 表示“就⋯ ⋯而言”、“至於”、“在⋯⋯ 情況下”:
- Poverty depresses most people; in the case of my father it was otherwise. 貧窮會把大部分人壓垮; 但對於我父親來說, 情況可就不同了。
- In the case of a physical change, no new substance is form. 就物理變化而言, 並不產生新物質。
