答：譯者沒有理解answer for 的含義:“ 對……負責”、“ 保證”。例如:

1. I can’t answer for the consequences. 我不能對後果負責。
2. You’ll have to answer for your wrongdoing one day. 總有一天, 你必須對你的錯誤行為負責。

answer to 意為“對……負責”、“符合”、“適合”:

1. You will have to answer to me if any harm comes to this child. 如果這個孩子受到什麼傷害, 你得向我負責。
2. This man does not answer to the description given. 這個人與所描述的不符。
