whether和if的用法、解釋和區別

whether if用法1：

whether if問：If she likes the present is not clear to me.
她是否喜歡這個禮物，我還不清楚。
請問這個句子是否正確？

答：上面的句子是錯誤的，因為if不能引導位於句首的主詞從屬子句，而必须把它移到句尾，而讓it充當虛主詞：
It is not clear to me if she likes the present.或者把if改為 whether( whether子句既可位於句首，亦可位於句尾)。

whether if用法2：

問：I don’t know if to see my doctor today.我不知道今天去不去看我醫生。
請問上面的句子是否正確?

答：上面的句子是錯誤的，因為if不能引導動詞不定詞，應將句中的if改為 whether。

1.  I don’t know whether to answer it (or not).
   我不知道是否應當給予回答。
2. She didn’t know whether to accept or refuse the offer.她不知道是接受還是拒絕這個建議。
